Directory Sorting

Five different directory sorting options can be selected in the “Directory Comparison Options” dialog:

Only one of the five sort options can be selected. The selected sort mode is applied to the sorting of the left or right side directory. The other side directory is sorted depending on the primary sort side directory. This means that files with equal filenames are displayed in the same line position and files which are not available on the other side are inserted at appropriate positions, according to the selected sort mode.

The Descending checkbox reverses the sort direction. Selecting a new sort mode preselects its natural direction: Date/Time and Size start descending (newest or largest files first), the name-based modes start ascending. Directories stay grouped before files in either direction.

Sorting can also be changed directly in the directory listing: clicking a column title selects that column for sorting (on the clicked side); a second click on the same title toggles the direction. The triangle in the column title shows the current sort column and direction.
