Diffoniq can tell you when a newer version is available. The check is deliberately minimal: the program fetches one small text file from the Diffoniq website, compares the published version number with the version you are running, and — only if a newer release exists — offers to open the download page in your browser. Diffoniq never downloads or installs anything by itself.
Choose Help ▸ Check for Updates… at any time. You will always get an answer: a newer version with a link to the download page, a confirmation that you are up to date, or a note that the update server was not reachable.
Once per day, on the first start of the day, Diffoniq performs the same check quietly in the background. It only ever speaks up when a newer version is actually available; being offline or a failed check never shows a message and never delays the program start.
If you answer No to an automatically offered version, that particular version is remembered and not offered again — the next release will prompt once more. A manual check always shows the newest version regardless.
Help ▸ Automatic Update Check toggles the daily
check; the checkmark shows the current state, and the setting is
remembered (UpdateCheck=0/1 in diffoniq.ini,
section [WDIFF]). Turning it on runs a due check right away.

The check transmits nothing but the plain HTTPS request for the version file — no license data, no usage data, no identifiers. Licensing is completely offline and independent of the update check; see Licensing.
